I got my van in Mi. so its rusted up pretty good. Tom says the cold air comes through the door on his legs and freezes him. LOL its a 2000 mercury villager we have had it for 10 yrs.

Wishing, Soft cast ? would that be a cotton wrap so he could still bend ?
Just a soft packing with splints or folded cardboard to keep it mostly immobile. You want to keep as much good circulations as possible around the injury so it can heal more quickly. He might limp, but there's a chance for him to walk again. I have heard of amazing things with chickens. Maybe have the leg slightly bent in case it freezes in that position. Think it would be easier for him than freezing totally straight out.
Yeppers & buy some duck tape the same color of the van & tape over the rusted out area that you fill with the foam. Make sure to trim off the bumps so its somewhat flat. That's how I fixed my 98 Cavilar rust out door runners. No more winter weather blowing in. Of course I did do the duct tape job in warm weather so it adhered good. Gave the car to my dd when my other dd gave me her older Toyota a few years back. Tape is still sticking

I'd grab some great stuff, that yellow foam stuff for your van

Well my feet & legs would freeze to death when I drove it. Could run the heater on high, but once my boots or shoes were wet I froze. Did it out of pure necessityHe has been in a small cage hanging since the 22nd dec. LOL
Lisa, I would not of thought of something like that in a million yrs. LOL
