Tippy, I have a confession:

I didn't bury my dead hens. I didn't even put them in boxes. They were both in crates, one on the front porch and one on the back porch. So no matter which way I left the house, they could remind me of my failure, and remind me to be more present, aware, and diligent.

Finally I got them off the porch and into the compost/burn pile. I thought about a Viking pyre, but couldn't decide how to build it (like I have time anyway). I covered them with hay, and now they'll become part of the process.

So you're not the worst, because I am.

That's not bad either, camping! You recognized the value of the life of the animals, and that's what counts. How you deal with the empty vessel (eating, burying, burning, composting) is secondary. All my dead chickens (except infectious ones) I take up to the farm and lay out in a spot where my dad had put a deer he found dead under his front porch. The bones of the deer are still there, and I will see feathers there for sometime too. It's a little circular clearing in the briars, a little circle of life, because something gets an occasional meal. Maybe snack bar of life is a better name.

good morning all I am up but not for long think I am getting the "bug" again. Angie has been sick for over a week hacking and snots all around the lobby and kitchen. I have a gravely throat and the nasty body shaking cough when I do cough. Funny how a cig seems to quell the cough ??

Never did get that nap yestuday every time I had almost dozed off the phone would ring or someone would come in the loby and Never for a room rental mind you

That's because they clog everything up so you can't get enough air to cough!

Just got the electric bill for the farm with a notice of the NEW rates. base charge (what they charge you for being their customer includes no electric) from 20.00 up to 25.00 per month first KWH of juice from 0.076 to 0.079 KWH and over 1000 KWH from 0.069 up to 0.072 per hour. because costs are going up REALLY what wages are dropping around here as is the demand from the oil field
