Several years ago my brother went with us to Iowa. We had the same raising, so he's fairly country. We hunted deer and squirrel, and picked produce in grandpas garden. But he was extremely impressed with the apples that DH's godmother picked from a neighbors orchard, and said he had never had apples from a tree before. :lau

Chickens turned my niece into a vegan. She was only 4-5. Mom took her to gather eggs and threw her in shock. Asked if she wanted eggs to eat she would ask, "Is that the kind you reach under and grab?"

Shade, shade and more shade. Deep, dark, complete shade. Huge grapefruit tree gives the best shade. We have dry heat here, so on very hot days, I soak the ground under their favorite trees and shrubs. Evaporation is cooling, and they will wallow in the wet dirt too. Plenty of cool water to drink. Mine will walk through puddles on the ground, but never in a pan of water. Also, I read one time that ACV in the water is NOT good during high heat. It lowers their blood pH and makes them less heat tolerant.

If you randomly picked 100 kids and plopped them down on a turn of the century farm, how many do you think would survive?

I have a serious question.
I already started them on fermented feed which does have a little ACV in it..... so should I not feed them this when I move them outside?

We have a very nice apple orchard here. big beautiful apples of many kinds. I of course cant eat them. LOL unless they are cooked and I am much too lazy for that.
