To all you guys that use a fitbit or other step counting device.

It states that I should walk 10000 steps a day. With me trying I only hit a little over 5000 and yesterday when I was busy with the kids I didn't even hit 2000. So am I really that lazy. Why is it so difficult to achieve the recommended daily number. Do these numbers sound right?

I average 6-7k. My vivo fit adjusts as I walk, so each goal is a little but more than the goal before. Sometimes my goal is only 6k. 10k is really difficult to achieve for busy moms. But I think that's the "average" just like 2k calories a day is "average."

The phone also isn't as sensitive as a typical pedometer. Even the fitbits and similar devices won't register steps while you're shopping or carrying something in your arms, because your wrist isn't swinging.

:hugs If it's adding stress, it's not helping you any. I would start at 6k as a goal. It doesn't take long to rack up steps. Just park farther back than usual when you're running errands, and if you've been sitting for more than an hour then take a walk around the block or to the mailbox or something. When I've been sitting too long I walk over to the farm to check on everyone. Or over to the garden.

You can do it! :yesss:

Its not causing me stress I just wanted to make sure it would show if I were making progress. I lowered my goal to 3000. Lol but 6 would be great!

You're using an app or just the phone? I like myfitnesspal app because it tracks your steps and you can input workouts and meals. Very handy.

Where are u wearing your Fitbit

I use my phone. I don't have a fitbit.
Ohhhhhh ok I was going to say when I wore my Fitbit I stuck it in my ankle brace by my ankle to actually see how much I walked step wise. I work in a school kitchen and I didn't want it to track what I was using my hands for but I my step count went way up. Now my app on my phone is always off. Like it said I only did 1000 steps yesterday but with having a birthday party I know I did more... Hard to always have ur phone in ur side
