I have an aversion to blue food, so hopefully I will never experience the after effects.

Hope you sleep well. My Granniversary card will go out tomorrow. Too much excitement today!

SO with you on the blue M&M thing -- it just isn't right.......I don't eat them.
So my newest monthly renter came into tonight and asked me if I had ever considered accepting a section 8 (she's ex-military) and I am/was a HUGE Mash fan. So Section 8 I am thinking to myself but I don't like to wear dresses (Klinger) turns out Section 8 also refers to some sort of government housing program. My answer was it depends on what hoops I have to jump thru.

The last time I considered something like that (different program) , what the government required was basically a palace and a nicer place then MOST Americans have in their own home. I politely told them to go whistle.

Generally speaking Section 8 requires that your property meets local building and safety codes and that the rent is within the mean rent for the area for comparable units. The specifics of the inspections and requirements, though, can vary quite a bit from one local program administrator to another/state to state. The program run through the agency I used to work for was very much on the minimalist side of things with regards to the inspections and requirements. Are your "rooms" basically efficiency apartments or more of a standard hotel room (ie no kitchen, etc). Key phrase is "decent, safe and sanitary housing" that meets the minimum requirements for the family unit size.

Found some goodies at the local Re-Store today --- picked up a darling little table and chairs for the dining area in the kitchen (left our table and chairs with DD and her fiance back in Indiana, good thing as it would not have fit in the little nook here, love the house, but it was built in the 1920's and the rooms are small --- also, not a single closet in any of the rooms

), DH found a recliner for his man cave room (another thing we left with the kids), I found some great containers for my spices since we are back in a part of the country where bulk foods are an option and the boys found some lights and some sort of work bench for the shop. Got to sit down and have dinner at the table as a family for the first time tonight

Sounds like it will be a home in no time! I grew up in an old homestead farmhouse built around 1910. Lath and plaster construction, picture rails, redwood doors and moldings, and one closet! My mom got wardrobes for all the other bedrooms!

Been awake since 1:30. Think im gonna go work in the garden. Sun rise is in 11 minutes. Gonna pick maters to feed to chickens & pull up plants so i can plant brocolli & cabbage plants there.
