I ask him everyday about school. He usually mentions something fun they did. He doesn't know the names of his classmates (not sure why) but he'll tell me about "a little girl's" backpack, or "a little boy's" lunchbox. Those are his words. He loves to be helpful! Until he doesn't.

When my #1 was in second grade, (with an awesomely amazing teacher- her class was a room full of individuals, which she appreciated and managed to bring out the best in each) teacher let me know that he was working very slowly and missing recess to finish.I told her recess was torture for my socially awkward baby, but he needed to be out there. Best reward in the world was to get to stay inside where it's safe and quiet and have the teacher all to himself! He was missing lunch too! Her response was sooo funny. She was stunned... couldn't believe she had missed it. We decided all unfinished work would come home, and he would miss tv time (which he loved) to finish. A week later, all work was getting done on time in class and he was out on the playground for recess (following the yard duty teacher around like a lost puppy). Update: He drove himself to the jr college this morning for 3 of his classes, and won't get home until 7:15 tonight. Still not enjoying it, but he's come a long way! Bubba will be fine. Just keep at it.

He sounds like a fun little guy! When does speech start? This may shed a little more light on what is going on in class. My guys never know the names of who is on their class except for the small circle of friends. Maybe just a guy thing.
