Around there, yes. Right? I thought so.

That's drive able!!! I just sat down and mare is a little over an hour away. Nothing really! I can do that! I thought she was an hour and a half but hubby corrected me. Closer than Portland and we go there often.

We go to Galveston and Houston isn't any farther. We just need to get Tippy to drive in! Ladies beach weekend! :lau

I know what you mean, but if he is content... Happiness is such a personal thing. I see people riding 100 miles on bikes, climbing mountains, cooking... because they are happy doing it. Not for me. I'm not a party person... makes me uncomfortable, but party people probably think I am unhappy staying home. Couldn't be farther from the truth!

YES!
School here says don't come in if fever or barfing, and wait full 24 hrs after. They want their money too, but figured out spreading germs will result in more empty seats.
Yes - which always makes me wonder with the focus on "perfect attendance" given that you can't tell me that in 12 years of school that person never once had a fever or puked w/in 24 hours of attending class ---so you are rewarding them for not following policy and making those who did follow, and were considerate when they kept from spreading illness to others look like the poorer student for missing a day here and there????

OMG. I CANT HANDLE THE CUTENESS.

Silkies and silkie EE mixes.
Awwww, I had a horrible time today when I went to get dog food for Z --- the little shop here in town that I was checking out just happened to have had chicks arrive this morning......talk about torture to have to look and resist! On the upside I now know where I can get my chicks when the time DOES come (and they also really know their fish stuff, other pet stuff and have tons of great products (I'm kind of picky about stuff for my furred, feathered and finned children)

Mare, love your line at the bottom of your posts. My mom would use that line quite often. Reminds me of her.

Big corporations are intruding on the good local shops! Glad you found a keeper!

It's ok to eat chick feed as long as you have plenty of oyster shell or other calcium source. I fed my whole flock chick feed for most of the summer when I had so many babies.

Some people say to ease them into it, mix different feeds to transition them. My birds must have iron guts because they eat whatever hits the ground and don't seem to suffer for it.

X 2 on both --- I actually don't feed layer at all to my birds (when I have them

) -- I prefer the higher protein content and overall higher nutritional values of a grower ration than that offered by most layer rations, the calcium needs are easily met by supplementing with calcium in other forms and results, imo, in an overall better diet.

Mine eat lots of vegetation from the garden. What they don t eat mixes with the poo & keeps the smell down. deep litter. I shovel it out in October & put it in my garden.

Yes - deep litter is the way to go. I have converted my sister/mom to it when I saw how much work they were putting into their little flock -- I told them about deep litter and they were sold.

Well I'm starting to slowly learn why my dad is so against farming..... He grew up on a farm in winter set Iowa... He was lowered in a well and left for a while to work there... He worked on a corn facility as a kid.. Got carbon monoxide poisoning... Got pulled out by the farmers was given lemonade and then told to finish his day up... Yep, my dad not a farming lifestyle fan.....
