Haha! It would take much. He has a lot of hobbies. It's not that I don't want him around, I will just have to get used to it! My routines will have to change, but maybe that will be a good thing.

My DH has retired.I love him dearly but i wish he would go on a long trip sometimes..
Does he do for himself in any way... cooking... laundry... grocery shopping... cleaning?? That would make me nutty, since then you never get to "retire." Maybe you need to go on a long trip! You could make the chicken rounds! Come on out to California. I got room.

> And you thought California was the land of fruits and nuts!

It is!  Look what I saw at the store this morning.

Pop quiz time, folks ---- what is the object shown below (pardon the band-aid over the house number, lol)????

You would *think* that it was a mail box, right? Well, apparently that is NOT what that is........because according to the USPS there is "no mail receptacle" at this address........

Backstory - moved in three weeks ago, received ONE piece of mail three days later, from the local garbage company, which was addressed to us AT THIS ADDRESS -- after that, no mail. Now, I wasn't all that worried about it because I knew I had recently processed a request to forward our mail from the original forward order I had put in when we left Indiana and that can add up to 10 days to transit time for mail.....*but* I also was not getting mail that would have been addressed directly to this address, such as statements from the utility companies I set up accounts with when we moved in. Fortunately I was thinking ahead enough to check utility stuff online, because while the gas and cable company hadn't billed (until this week) the electric company did and, had I not paid, we'd have already had our service shut off over the deposit that was due. Monday I wrote myself a little note, addressed it to this address, and drove it up to the post office and mailed it -- haven't gotten it yet either. Every day I watch the mail lady walk down this street, stop at each apartment across the street, go to the house right next door, walk RIGHT BY our house and leave........
Anyway - this morning I am waiting to see the mail lady so I can ask her *** and the phone rings - it's the power company informing me that the bill they sent out two weeks ago just came back to them stamped "no mail receptacle". Nevermind waiting for the mail lady, this grumpy mare got in the car and drove her unhappy self down to the post office, AFTER snapping the photo posted above with our house number clearly displayed over the top of a mail receptacle mounted next to our front door.
Apparently the previous tenant opted to use a PO box and for some reason this caused the USPS to no longer be able to see or recognize the above item on our home??????? Counter girl starts trying to tell me that when an address goes from PO box to home delivery the person usually has to either meet the carrier out at the main street (we are on a one block long dead end street) or have a mail box mounted at the street so the carrier can pull up and deliver from the vehicle. So I explained to her that every day I watched our carrier park her little truck up on the main street, walk down our street to the box mounted on the front of each and every apartment across from us, walk all the way up to the house next door to us and then go back and get in her little truck to continue her route....and that there are ZERO street mounted boxes in this entire neighborhood, EVERY house and apartment has a house mounted box so that was going to be a no-go on walking MY mail to the street *or* mounting a mail box at the street since the carrier doesn't even drive down this street. Alternatively, I can rent a post office box -- um, no, I am not going to pay you for a box when there is a perfectly good box on the front of my house that you are supposed to put my mail in FOR FREE like you do everyone else on my street.....nor do I want to have to drive to the post office every day when I have a perfectly good box on the front of my house!
At that point she had to "talk to her supervisor"

Takes my name and number, has me fill out a "hold" card for any mail that comes in after today (because apparently EVERYTHING that has come in the last three weeks was returned to sender.........that's just great given that I don't even know what sort of important documents may have been mailed to us in the last three weeks) so that I can pick it up at the post office and they will "figure out what can be done" -- what can be done is your carrier can walk her happy self up my freaking sidewalk, to my freaking door and put my freaking mail in my freaking "mail receptacle"........................

that is nuts mare. I would be mad too.

h20, its DDs infusion for her Crones. Remicaid.

Wishing, Im glad to hear that about your GM. Keeping fingers crossed hers can be took care of like that.

Im on break again. back is finished.

Mare photo shopped the bandaid. Mail carrier is a robot. Incapable of independent thought without being specifically programmed.

Mare, that's really crappy if important stuff got sent back.

If you have things sent to a PO Box, it is addressed to the PO Box. What are they talking about? If it addressed to the house #, it goes to the house. They are insane.

We get told all the time that our address doesn't exist. It's especially frustrating with businesses that won't accept a PO box but also don't believe we're real. No one on my road gets mail at their house.
