one of my coturnix hens passed away last night. No idea of what but I wanted to see if I could find out why. I have tons of pictures I’m just not sure what I’m looking at. I’m in human medicine not avian so I’m lost. Can someone be able to tell me what normal and if there’s any abnormalities or point me in the right direction? I’ll post pictures if someone can help!

Go ahead and post pictures as I know many do or know chicken innards, and there's probably several who have done necropsy on quail too.

I'd put them as a reply with a graphic warning above them or in a spoiler in case someone prefers not to see them.

I don’t butcher, if emergent my husband takes care of the culling otherwise they get sold. I didn’t realize my blade was that sharp so keep that into consideration, I’m used to dressing deer😅
No blockages. Crop was good. No strange smells. 4mo. I’ll post link to thread on her being sick if need be

Not that it really matters much at this point...Doesn't look like she's laid for a while...active layers usually have yellow yolks in them:

The only thing I see is spots on her lungs, everything else looks normal, except for the fact that everything has discolored before you opened her up! Did she have a respiratory issue?
