*Graphic* Quail Necropsy - possible Egg Yolk Peritonitis

I believe you would smell infection and it did not look runny, FWIW I agree with others that it may be tissue colour change due to nutrition feed type and balance.
No, this is not tissue color change.

What exactly do you feed your birds?
There is zero doubt the above yellow crap is indeed infection.

That is some pile of pasty pus. 🤑
The quail necropsied this evening had organs that looked healthy to my eye, with the yellow localized membraney-thing being the main yellow in the photos (other than maturing unlaid egg/ovum).
Before I threw everything away and cleaned up, I found one of the yellow "shells" that was further along its way to becoming an egg, and indeed it looked just like the rotting, soft-shelled eggs I used to often find. Brownish that was darker at one end and mixed with black speckles. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of that or of the eggs she used to lay.

This bird was very sick. She is much better off dead.
