Grey squirrels are good eatin'! They'e a pain to clean, 'cause they're generally pretty small, but they stew up nicely. If you have enough to make it worthwhile, you can fry them up like chicken.Yes I was certain that they are counting red squirrels. I think they are so beautiful. Hope you catch the grey one or are able to end its life sadly but they are a invasive non-indigenous rodent. Let me know if you catch the grey one!
I live in the country side where we have quit a few predators but I wont lie I quit enjoy catching wild animals I grew up hunting but due to recent restrictions and way more laws its put me off that if u shoot the wrong bird u could get quit the fine so when I found out u could I'd no prob doing it and I'd never eat a squirrel unless I really had tothey do carry the lice and mite then mange.
the grey squirrel is not native to Ireland and is not really considered. Only now has the awarenesses been brought forward. so in regards to eating, id say its just not a thought to most.
I love squirrel, country squirrel not city trash shite squirrel. i grew up with that on the table frequently. I don't know really how big the grey squirrels are in Ireland, judging by Pekin747's photo, he either caught a young squirrel or they are just smaller here.
not sure where you are in Florida but perhaps the natural predators are few and far between. If a natural predator was able to live about, that certainly would take care of a problem.
Some people do but there are a lot more around than people can eat. I wish the predators would take some of the squirrels. I think they introduce lice and mites to the flocks.
I'd say ur I'm assuming dog must love when they get brave lol @BigBlueHen53
We don't have flying squirrels 'round here, but we do have FRYING squirrels! My neighbors feed them, so they're quite plump and glossy. It's a shame I live too close to town to go after them (the squirrels, not the neighbors!)Ugh, what a thought! I see some kind of squirrel bouncing around in the old mulberry tree in the front yard on occasion but Gracie barks at them so they keep their distance. When the walnuts and pecans come on they get a little braver, but not much. DH tells me we also have flying squirrels but I don't know much about them.
