When I was grooming it was back and forth on what should be done. I've seen ears matted shut and was always for plucking them clean. You should ask you vet what they recommend. If you decide to pluck them make sure you get an appropriate powder which helps with the process. Personally I think light plucking weekly is the way to go with poodles since they seem prone to ear infections. You cannot properly clean them out with hair matted inside them. It of course all depends on your dogs tolerance for the process. Most shouldn't even feel it, especially if it's been done before.Hi Everyone, I have'nt read past page 5 yet but I have a question for poodle owners. I have a standard black male, last time I took him to the groomers I checked inside his ears while still there and was told they no longer pull the hair from them because they need the hair for filtering. Does anyone know if this is a new thing because I thought it was always done. ? thanks
