Grrr-China food imports

It is better to buy something used in the second hand store than to buy something new that is made in China.

When I returned to the US in 1966, US Customs confiscated my flip flops and themos jug because they were made in Red China.

We need to return to that type of thinking. There is nothing wrong with protecting your own economy. Free trade is just another liberal lie.

Yes, labor unions priced themselves out of business, and businesses got sold to overseas interests that have no intentions of manufacturing in the US. While the product has an American sounding name, it is owned and sold by Chinese.

If things don't change, it is only a matter of time until Chrysler and GM auto manufacturing is Chinese owned and operated in China.

But we need to try and reindustrialize our nation. We need to move away from the income tax and rely move upon tariff income to fund our government. We need to get people off of welfare and back into the factories.

Before the income tax, the tariffs were basically the only real revenue the US Government had.

In the great depression, the US industrial might was protected by the Smoot Hawley tariff. When it was needed, the industrial sector was there to provide what was needed to fight World War II.

What would have been the out come if our manufacturing plants had been shipped to Japan instead?

Now China is investing in US Defense industries. I foresee tough times ahead.

"We want clean air, clear water, good living conditions, the best health care in the world--yet we aren't willing to pay for anything manufactured under those restrictions."- Carolina Mills on Walmart

I will admit to not always paying attention to where everything I buy comes from. But if I'm making a big investment like new cookware, furniture, car, computer, I do research and pick the best quality even if it means saving for another two months. I have only set foot in Walmart twice in my life, and doubt that I will ever again. It was all sorts of gross.

Consumer awareness, consumer awareness, consumer awareness. Not scary hype. Just facts.

I try, but I'm not perfect, that isn't the point.

People seem to think products magically appear in the store, and that there are no consequences, and that it doesn't matter. But eventually it will, whether the only consequence is that you have to replace the item in half the time you should, or China pollutes more, or what.

/rant Sorry that went long. I'm just saying that better quality products do not have a down side!

Here is a link to a Apple Orchard in KS that offers all kinds of american made products, including organic apple cider vinegar.

and thats the thing..i cant pay 6 dollars for a bottle of vinegar..and i wouldn't even if i could. i can pick up a bottle from walmart for a dollar and it works just fine. i would be living in a cardboard box somewhere after shopping at places like this. i for one and glad that there are places that you can go shopping and spend a smaller amount of money. ive yet to get one thing from walmart or from china that fell apart on me..but i did get a wooden tool set for my son that was made in america and it broke within a weeks time. american made doesn't mean well made in all cases, unfortunately.

And thats the thing. If we were to create more of a demand prices would fall. We cant create a demand by continuing the same habits! Now yes 6 bucks for vinegar wont do much, but vinegar, well thats not gonna change much. Thats just consumer confidence.

Actually it is not just fine.

The $1 bottle of vinegar at walmart is filtered, pasturized and does not have the mother it. It is pickling vinegar with no active live cultures.

Raw, unfiltered applecider vinegar with the mother is the type with active enzymes that is probiotic, is antibiotic in that it kills off bad bacteria and at the same time promotes good bacteria, is antiviral (kills viruses), and is antifungal (kills funguses). This is why you pay $6 for the bottle of the good stuff.

The cheap one dollar bottle is not effective. All the good stuff in it was killed and filtered out.

BTW, you can invest in the $6 bottle, buy a gallon of fresh cider this fall and leave them mixed in a glass container and by late winter have over a gallong of the good stuff for the under $10.

i use it to clean with, not eat!

i see what you are saying though, and its something to think about.
