Grrr-China food imports

good point Miss Prissy, and you can still by the cheap brand for cleaning. There are a number a of things you can do to cut cost in one area as to buy up in another. Such as using cheap vinegar for household cleaning along with baking soda and you have just saved yourself a ton of $$ on cleaning supplies, that now you can spend else where.

I stopped shopping at Wally world a while back... I don't agree with the fact that they don't want to pay a decent wage, and they encourage their employees to get state benefits, so it will cost the company less...now they've moved almost all manufacturing overseas... The FDA doesn't test everything that crosses our borders... The fruit and veggie from south of the border can be sprayed with whatever pesticides are allowed in that country and then it is shipped here...

Believe me, my food bill has gone through the roof, but that is why we started with the chickens..

Actually I think it is the governments fault. Clinton and the congress at that time passed NAFTA Before then the majority of stuff was made in America. Clinton's intention was to trade with Mexico and Canada and was mostly intended to help the Auto industry. However the bill was vague and look what has happened. Corporations saw a way to fatten up the bottom line. I paid 500.00 for a 19" Color TV in 1982 that you could buy now for 139.00. I would be willing to pay 900.00 for that same TV. Look what has happened to this country because all of our industry is gone. The government is the only thing that can fix it. They can fix it by putting Tariffs on imports and make it unprofitable for American corporations to produce everything in China. That's the only way this country will have a strong economy again. Everything they do until then will just be a bandaid.

By the way Tyson Chicken is trying to get certified to produce in China. Maybe they're worried about HR 875.

I too try not to buy things from china and even my mom avoids foods imported from there... some people, can tell I am a non china born chinese because I don't look sickly thin... more food, less contaminants? Or... maybe I'm just fat. LOL

Today I bought a gallon of the cheapest white vinegar my grocery store had. $2.69, made in Cincinnati, USA. I use it to clean with and as a fabric softener.

Before I moved to my current location I was a part time student and worked part time. I didn't get any help from my parents (I do now) and I just found ways to make it work. In all honestly, though, I don't have a family or kids. And at least around my area, Walmart is not the cheapest. Sounds weird, but I've heard that they've really raised their prices here.

Canned mushrooms - grown/canned in China!

Buy the fresh ones.

Garlic powder- grown/canned in China!

Read your labels please!

Some labels DO NOT have where they grew the food, it would have distributions centers, that is it! Not all labels are like that.

From now on, I am going to read the labels coming in from China. Too darn scary and I want to support the USA workers as well.

Yep, you're right. Just because something can be found at Walmart does not mean it is the best price. When I got my last chicks TSC was out of red heat lamp bulbs so I was forced to buy one at Walmart. Instead of paying the TSC price of $4.69 for one I wound up paying $8.88 for one!

I had a box of 2 day old chicks so I had to have it.
