GSD lovers - what's your favorite coat color?

Can I give my two bits, even if I don't have a GSD?

I like the faded black and tan or the all black, but I think they are all beautiful

DH has managed to track Jaxs sire's lineage back 6 generations; three in this country, three in Germany. The further back they go, the blacker they get. He's really getting into this lineage thing. I'm just happy to have a smart, handsome dog.

I had purchased a beautiful daugher or granddaughter of CH Trotwood's Capezio....glad to see her pic again. Capezio was a beautiful dog and what a MOVER she was! http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/532169.html Her father was name "Gator" and he was HUGE! I can not remember his real name.

I do not know what became of my wonderful dog, Heidi (which she did carry the kennel name). After she was roughly a year old, spending alot of time in college and Heidi didn't get enough time with me and it was not fair to her or to me. She was absolutely wonderful dog but boy, did she LOVES to jump the high chain link fences and she would park out in the backdoor waiting for me LOL! Mom was getting frustrated with her getting out and her dogs getting upset because she was "out there". Jealous dogs LOL! She was so easy to train and she did have her OFA papers and pedigree and so forth.

I am not familiar with her pedigree because she was strictly a pet for me, no breeding. The only fault she had was she was not "feminine" in her looks, she got her father's masculine head and her feet was large LOL!

Black and tan is always my favorite!

No I have noticed it. My first GSD was white and he was awesome! Bought him from a breeder here in NC years ago. Easy to train, to smart for his own good really. Extremely solid in his nerves. My husband even used him when he was an instructor in the Marines. He was the ghost in the woods. I have friends with them also and none are unpredictable.

It could be the breeding of your sisters pup. Also some "showline" breeders can be very biased against color and love to spend false info.

Color has nothing to do with temperament, breeding/genetics does.

Whenever I have some extra money Qira, I will drop you a line. May be a while though.

My ole White GSD was as solid a dog there is. 94 lbs no fat. Pink nose. He knew that ONLY men were the enemy, not kids or women. Pretty good dog.

We have a white GSD that's absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt, the sweetest dog I've ever known in my life. She's the only dog we have that doesn't try to kill our dog-aggressive border collie.. She'll go over to say hi, wagging her whole body, and the BC always growls and bears teeth. Always. Every single time. Yet, the white GSD never gives up. In three years, she's never given up hope that one day the BC will decide she wants to be friends.

We've actually witnessed the GSD lick the BCs teeth before as she snarls and growls.. She tries so hard to make friends, it's just heartbreaking to see her rejected over and over again.

Sweetest.dog.ever.

My mix breed GSD has the exact same neck! I don't know what to call it except excess skin. LOL

She is not pure bred but still the bestest doggie in the world.
