aaawww, I'm telling Care Bear you called the other dogs beautiful and ignored him!

. I looked all through this thread and didn't see the picture. At first I thought you must have forgotten to add it, then I realized you were referring to your avatar pic. He IS beautiful. Do you have a bigger picture of him to post? Me, with my old eyes.

He's delicate you know, gets his feelings hurt easy. Actually, he is a very bad dog as I was explaining to him this morning, while he was hiding behind dh on the on couch.

I have bigger pictures, but not on this computer. What I need is a group shot. Might have to work on that this weekend.

To be fair, it's actually my wife and the vet that spared this dog. Not that I was bloodthirsty or anything (

), but I showed up that day mentally prepared to spare the dog a life of agony. I was prepared for the vet to suggest putting her down if it was, in fact, megaesophagus. When he confirmed it (barium x-ray looked like a 'lazy river' in her esophagus), my heart sunk, and I just knew the next thing he'd suggest would be to spare her the misery.

My wife just started BAWLING when he confirmed it, though.. The vet was more ambivalent about our options than I expected, so I asked what he'd do if it were his dog.. He looked at my wife, then at this adorable little 7wk old puppy and said..."I'd give her a chance." He told us that we should keep her food pretty liquid so it moves easily, feed her on an incline, and that we'd know what do to within a week or two.

Thankfully, it worked.

She had some stomach issues a while back and had another barium x-ray just to rule out a worsening of the megaesophagus condition.. Vet said it didn't really look that bad. Not worsening, anyway. Her stomach issues ended up being grain related, but we were very happy to know that her esophagus didn't seem to be expanding..

Hopefully she'll live to old age without it ever getting any worse.

She'll be 3-1/2 next month....from what I read, the average lifespan on a MegaE dog is about 2yrs.

Rut roh! What did he do?

I was telling his daddy about the dead mouse incident yesterday while I was trying to leave for work. Ole Bear found one, and I am certainly NOT touching it, and no, he could NOT bring it in the house with him! EEEWWWWWWWWW

Jax wants to know if Bear would like to share the 40 ft. of garden house that mama and daddy left laying around in the yard. He's chewed it into 4 ft. sections for playing convenience.
Bad mama and daddy! It's so cold outside Jax has been allowed to have too much unsupervised outside time.

Why, he would love to. He also can bring the 200 foot of hose he and his GP buddy Boss took apart into 4 foot sections. Alas, Bear and Boss's daddy has now buried the water line and they are reduced to dragging empty 50 gallon trash cans around the fields.
