Guess What?.... Chicken butt. But like for real.

Some birds are just messy poopers, or too fluffy in the rear. I don't even wrap them up to trim. I pick them up, put them on a tabletop (my run has a jungle gym the right height) so I don't have to bend down, then hold them down with my hand on their back so they tilt slightly face/chest down. WIth my dominant hand I lift up the tail so I can see, then I pick up scissors and trim as they'll stay in position like that. Unless they're molting, you can trim pretty darn close - birds with fluffy rears I just trim off the fluff, but messy poopers I'll cut down to maybe 1/2" from the skin.

Warning - it can get MESSY especially if you're trimming multiple birds. Definitely don't do this inside the house!

Update: EE has a bare bottom and I kinda feel bad because of how silly my dragon looks. But you know she kinda deserves it because she's matching her girlfriend lol (to explain she humps her best friend and its caused extreme feather loss.) Hopefully it'll help her.
