Guess who I got?!

Yay! They are sooo cute! I just got 2 ( lol, not 22!) yesterday to add to my small hen family! I have been looking for 2 buffs and two leghorns. Mine are around six weeks old. Anyway, we tried the totes at first also with our first 6 chicks, worked for about a week. Not enough room. We built a larger brooder box for the garage from a picture i found on an article here. Look up brooder and coops. Good luck! You have a lot!

They are so cute :love

I've always been told 1/2 square foot of brooder per bird to hold them for 4-6 weeks. In your case, that's about 5'x2'. I used to use cardboard panels and tape them together, when I brooded inside. That way, you can expand it easily. I recently built a quarantine/brooder coop/run that's inside my big run. It works great for new chicks, broody hens hatching eggs, and a time out space for bad birds.
