Guess who's a proud papa??? Desperate Dad in NJ

Well at New years time I left 2 eggs in the coop and marked them. 4 weeks later guess what happened??????? Never did this before but a very nice hen decided to lay on them and on 2\\03 an Aurucana(?) slash some body else (Pheonix Rooster) popped out. I rescued and have had a single chick in the Kitchen since.It's too cold to put her\\him out and I fear the other 12 will kill her|him

Hey, congrats on the new chick. If the hen wanted to take care of it, I probably would have tried to separate her and let her raise the chick. However, if you keep the chick indoors, you should have a light to keep it warm and starter feed and a waterer for it, same as all chicks. Also, the chick should not be introduced to the others until it is about the same size. I hope this helps you out.
