Anybody own them?

I've been considering them lately.

I saw the cutest ones at Petsmart today. I want them so bad :hit

Anybody have them and have pictures and stories or care tips?

Thanks

I have 2 boys. They are sweet little animals. Like bunnies, they poo a lot so be prepared for "poo patrol". If you've got chickens, you are probably used to it. :D

The redhead is called Eric (after Eric Stoltz, the actor) and the grey one is called Finbar.

Guinea pigs are sweet, lovely pets. They don't mind sitting on your knee (on a towel, which is always a good idea) and having a pat or a brush. They will call out to you when they know you have goodies. They are perfect for little kids - just a great, docile, sweet little animal.

They are social creatures so you do need at least two. Two girls can sometimes fight when they are mature. Hope that helps convince you that you need some guinea pigs!

Thank you everyone! It's definitely helpful and they seem like amazing animals. :D

Potato chip, your guinea pigs are so adorable!! And yes, have 8 chickens who seem to poo soo much and used to have a bunny so def used to poo patrol lol

Matt, thank you for the site, I'll definitely check it out.

JaeG, they sound very sweet! And I don't have kids or very little siblings or anything so no worries there but it is nice to know if/when I do that they'd be good with them :) and of course I love holding/petting/loving on my animals so I suppose docile is important for me too lol

And oh yes, I would definitely get at least 2 or more. I heard they were kind of herd like animals like actual pigs? And/or very social animals? So I wouldn't want to make them depressed by putting them alone or in the typical guinea pig cage :)

Speaking of which, how much room do two need? And is it true you need to give them vitamin C supplements?

Maybe I should join Matt's forum lol

As long as you provide them with a variety of fruits and vegetables (especially leafy greens), as well as food specifically formulated for guinea pigs, they will be getting enough vitamin C.
