Gun ban!

We can't open carry in Texas except on our own property. Even then I had someone call the Sheriffs dept. when I was working my fence line in my own pasture. Turns out the guy that called had just moved here from Houston and had never been outside the city.

The deputy found out what the deal was and "educated" my new neighbor about country life. The neighbor has recently discovered trap shooting.

I keep wondering why people refer to Texas as 'the gun state"?

Seems their only purpose is for mischief. I am surprised to learn they are legal in a lot of places, I could have sworn they were pretty much banned. Some people might use them as to not disturb their neighbors but I imagine they'd get more use robbing the liquor store.

Only in the movies. They are legal in most states as far as I know. In Ga, hunting is illegal with one but they are used allot for that in other states. Great for home protection too cause they do not kill your hearing an vision in the event that you have to fire in your house at 3 AM.

I guess I don't know to be honest, rebel. I am sure you know more about this than I do and Google is giving me sporadic answers with some sources saying there is a federal ban on silencers and other websites giving you step by step instructions on how to obtain one. I feel about silencers sort of how I feel about guns. I think the gun control debate is silly, there are as many guns as there are people.. if not more. The cat is out of the bag and our opportunity to control them is long gone. However, I don't know about silencers. Are they very prevalent? I've shot my fair share of guns and I've never even seen a person who had one. I look at places like the bad neighborhoods in Detroit. We have kids shooting each other because they wear a different color sports jersey. For no other reason than they were taught it is cool. I don't think banning silencers will stop this, I know it wouldn't, but I wonder if silencers would make it easier to conceal their crimes. Again, comes down to prevalence, if you can just walk into a gun store and buy a silencer then I guess it is already too late to do anything about them.

At the federal level, you fill out a paper an pay a $200 tax. When the paper comes back you pick up the silencer. Same thing applies to buying a belt feed machine gun or a camera shaped gun.

They are around. You dont see them much cause no one keeps them on there guns. If a cop sees one he has reason to stop an detain you cause the law says it is a crime an you have to show the tax paper to show you are legal. Unlike just having a gun where the cop has to assume you are legal unless he has prof otherwise.(Ga anyway) So with silencers, people keep them hid to keep from being stopped an detained by every cop that sees it.

Then there are oil filters...

No, only to small minds that do not understand our system.

I do not need to be a rocket scientist to KNOW that RP has as much chance at winning as a snowball would have in hell. The 1 or 2 % of the vote that he 'does' get will more than likely just re-elect Obozo for another 4 years of despair...I can't see how 4 more years of Obozo could in any way be a 'good' thing for our country.

You folks get what you ask for... (because you fail to realize the consequenses of your actions)

Man that video. I can only say I'm glad a couple good ol' boys are doing that. I would hate to see thugs doing this.. although maybe they are?. I really don't know and I'm not trying to stir up any bad emotions. I'm on the fence on this issue but I lean right, our constitution was very clear on this subject.. but I wonder if there is a point we allow the second amendment and then the point we restrict it. Like... what normal person needs a 100 round magazine? You can argue it is easy to load 5 mags and shoot just as much but there is a difference. Again. I don't believe in control but I wonder when we should start to restrict.

Quote: Now its Ron Paul fault? If Romney fails to beat Obama it will be because he is a bad candidate. A year ago Obama had already lost this election, all the republicans had to do is pick any person that the independents could vote for an they would win. If Obama wins it will be the fault of Romney an the people that chose him to be their candidate. Trying to lay blame on anyone else is a joke.

As for Ron Paul, he had more of a chance of winning than Romney does. No question that Ron is not strong with the Republican base but at the end of the day a republican would have voted for any of the republicans had they been nominated. Weather it was Ron Paul, Romney or any of the other people that ran, the vote would have been the same from the republicans an the democrats. They will vote for their party member... The independent vote is what wins or loses elections. Ron Paul was strong with young an independent voters. The fact that he is still being talked about after over a year of being blackballed by the republican party an the media shows how strong he is. Still, all the republican base had to do was wait an let the system play out an Romney would have won the nomination. But that was not enough, they had to break there own rules to blackball Ron even more. Not only leaving a bad taste in many independents mouth but also many of the republicans as well. Many of those vote that Romney had in the bag will now go to a third party or just stay home. That is not Rons fault, its the fault of the republican party an the mindset they went in with thinking they could do anything an still win. "because you fail to realize the consequences of your actions"

Last time I checked Ron Paul was not running as a third party candidate. Gary Johnson on the other hand is an at this point he has my vote.

If Romney looses its on him an his base. They need to look at what they did wrong an not look for who they can blame it on. "Its there fault for not voting for me" junk is a joke.
