I do need a silencers for my AR15. I would shoot more if I didn't have to worry about bugging the neighbors so much. We have a silencers manufacturer up here on the mountain but its out if my price range even before the tax stamp...


I have 3 25 round clips( taped together) for it by the way... I am sure people like me give the Brady bunch nightmares.

I'm still trying to figure out how the heck a pistol grip aids "hip firing" in any way. Tried it with normal rifle stocks and pistol grips, and lemme tell you, it's a LOT easier with the normal stocks. At least they didn't call a barrel shroud a "shoulder thing that goes up," whatever the heck that is.

Also, they're magazines, not clips.

A clip is used to load a magazine. Sorry, that bugs me to no end.

I guess ya need to get over it cause about half the English speaking world calls it a clip including a large part of the US armed forces. We have a thread on that here.(https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/623447/gun-people-again ) The meaning of a word comes from how it is used not what someone somewhere wants to say it is. To many people a gun magazine is ether a book with pictures about guns or a room that holds ordinance.

Just like we are using the word gun here when we actually mean firearms. A gun really means large caliber, smoothbore cannon or a crew fired cannon.

Also pistol is used to describe any hand gun but in reality is only supposed to be single chambered hand guns.


Being picky about junk like that just makes gun people look bad

FWIW, ARs don't silence all that well unless you're running a piston system. They produce more back pressure and the direct impingement system tends to blow more gas back through the upper receiver. Silencers are becoming more affordable and maybe one day we'll see them taken off of the NFA list. Silencer talk, where I am a mod, has a lot of good information on all makes and models.

A bullet that travels 3200 fps will not silence too well... Makes no difference if it is a piston upper or not - The bullet is going to make a really loud 'crack' as soon as it leaves the barrel...

A subsonic .223 round is nearly worthless. Tiny AND slow... WTH good is that for against anything other than small game?

You're exactly right. Likewise, at a friend's house the beverages of choice were root beer and Dr. Pepper. When a guy got a drink, I asked him which one it was. He said, "Neither, it's actually tea." Way to zero in on the least important aspect of my post. Seriously, I can ignore most grammar issues, but the clip/magazine thing annoys me endlessly, so you'll have to forgive my terminology-nazism.

You do make a good point regarding gun/firearm/cannon and pistol/handgun, though. Did you see the video I posted? What on Earth is this mysterious "shoulder thing that goes up?"

Suppressors are for .45 ACP or really long-range rifle shooting.
