My point is that you are looking at it as a personal issue. I am looking at it as a greater common good issue. We have an AR also and my husband loves it, but he would give it up in a heart beat if it will save others lives in the bigger picture.

No you are also looking at it as a personal issue. You are talking about your rights. It goes both ways. You do not want to give up your rights for the "greater common good" so why should I. Two way street.

If your referring to my issue with arming teachers, my decision of taking my child out of that school will not affect the common good. It will only affect my child, no one else's. They can arm their selves like a mini militia as long as my daughter is not there it is not my concern.

By the way, Gun Owners of America is by far a better organization than the NRA. The NRA caves and supports control with the slightest push. GOA, on the other hand? They're the real thing. No compromise, no backing down, no pseudo-"reasonable" control. I've heard that Jews for the Preservation of FIrearms Ownership is good, too, as is the Second Amendment Foundation.

So now there's a shotgun? Geez, I can't keep up with this. I would think that despite their painful ignorance, the media could at least tell the difference between a handgun and a rifle.

BTW, I saw what you said about the shotgun being worse, and I agree. An AR-15 has to be aimed, whereas a shotgun, in those tight, packed quarters would only need to be pointed.

You have your own issues in the Netherlands.
You are always welcome to the United States, ( As long as you are able to be here legally).
If you don't like our rights as United States Citizen, then that's fine.
However, you have no power to change our country for what it is, "We The People" refers to the United States Citizens.
As of today the United Nations has no power to change our life here in the United States.
So if you like it better here in the United States, perhaps you can move here and enjoy the Freedom afforded to our citizens.
