Gurgling cemani roo

@fer9us This is just terrible. So, so, sorry.

I do see that blue comb on the rooster - almost looks like his skin at the legs and body is purple/red too?
Uggh...I wish I knew what it was, contagious diseases can have very similar symptoms so the only way to get a definitive answer would be necropsy/testing.

I don't want this to sound insensitive, but how are you disposing of the bodies?

I agree do a necropsy if possible . It's the only to know for sure what you've been hit with . And cultures in a controlled lab are the only way to isolate each disease and or virus . Are you treating with antibiotics? Rule out the obvious to start . Stop dusting the chooks and use a dip for lice or mites . If your in a warm area warm or temped water will be fine and a warm place to dry them . If you are burying the bodies . Use a heavy insecticide and soak them and the ground around them . This will prevent insects from bring it back to the flock. It would be better to burn them . Clean the coops with a one part bleach to three parts water top to bottom before bringing in a new flock . If you can get it start the healthy chicks on this

or something similar Use one quarter teaspoon per quart or liter . Or mix until it is the color of lime Gatorade . Five to ten days . Five to seven for chicks and five to ten for larger chooks .Mix it up fresh every day .Next what is your deworming program . Until you figure out what you have keep them on a regular schedule . Stick to it . And for the worst part what you have could be avian influenza. If so you need to know which strain and all those around you need to know . Know the wind patterns where you are and keep all sick birds down wind from the healthy ones . Only a good pathologist can answer the questions you have. Without a necropsy it's all just guessing . Hope you figure this out and things get better for you and the chooks .

Yeah, it was pretty much blue -used to be red - that was distinctive.

Bodies put into black plastic bags and taken away for disposal by special collection.

Will see what I can do about getting a necropsy done.
Have noted your suggestions on cleaning out coop with bleach etc.
Am trying to keep chicks as far from the unhealthy birds as possible but we don't have a huge area.
While it is grim, it's also amazing how quickly whatever bug it was wiped out my entire flock. I'm a little shell-shocked about it...

I hope you are able to get some testing performed. If you do, please let us know what you find out.

I'm so very sorry, I wish we had some answers for you. I know you are doing the best you can. Keep us posted.

I am so very sorry for your loss. This is horrible and very scary. :hugs to you and hoping your vet can find out the cause so you can know what to do. That is a massive loss so fast. My heart breaks for you and your chooks. :hit
