oh my gosh! I'm just beside myself today! Celebration! Overripe tomatoes for everyone!

If they both laid for the first time on the same day though, that's pretty cool in itself. You'll know soon enough.

One laid Friday while i was at work, and the RIR was the darkest comb in the flock when i got home. Then Sunday morning i let them out and the Dominique was singing and still in the coop. She came hauling a** out of the coop and I went running, still warm when i picked it up. Her comb is a Rose but it doesn't seem nearly as matured as the RIR. Nature is amazing <3

Well, there may be way to tell.....not as accurate as 'catching them in the act'..
but a group of newly laying pullets is a perfect time to start exams:

I still get excited when the pullets start to lay,
but that very first egg...yeah...
