Had a beautiful day. How about you????

Great thread idea, Ruth!

I have had a marvellous day. A friend from CA drove up to spend the weekend. We have talked til the middle of the night, spent time with ducks, talked, gone to the park and fed ducks, talked more, drove around this beautiful area, made cookies, talked. And we are going out to a nice dinner tonight.

The weather is sunny, yet chill. A perfect autumn day with all the changing colors and smells. The canada geese are flying over, honking. The hens are bocking and the rooster is crowing. The ducks are doodling and the geese are snoozing. And the Hot Chocolate is fabulous!

What more can you ask for?

POSITIVELY AWESOME DAY!
Went to visit Mom and Jack down in GA.
My little Sis and her hubby, and their chicks were there (they skipped church to come to dinner and visit and that's not something they will often do) and my Sis-in-law came with their 3 chicks (Bro is working out-of-town) and it was just a delightful day!
And when we just got home --- all the critters were where thay were supposed to be

Oh, and I have 2 white Silkie and 2 mottled Cochin chicks that hatched while we were gone (hhumph, I didn't think they *could* hatch without me peering thru the window and cheering them on ).

I'm thankful for a wonderful day (and thanks for asking).

Well, it rained all day here, that meant no outside work, so actually just lazed around all day inside, listening to the rain and thunderstorm. I dearly love thunderstorms.
Read a book I have been wanting to catch up on, took a nap, drank some hot tea and generally just had a wonderful very rare lazy day.

Now I have to go let the girls out for a bit, see if we can find some worms, shake off the rain (its just drizzling now), take a hot shower and eat something my dh is cooking me. Sounds ideal to me.
If the sun had shone, we were gonna clean the garage, oh joy, so I LOVED having it rain. Wippeee!

'Twas a lovely day here, too. It's finally seasonal and I'm looking forward to the 31st.

I sat in the grass with the chickens, and Henri, one of my Faverolles roosters, climbed up in my lap so I could stroke his back while he sunbathed. He's never been quite that forward before, but a few recumbent hours on my lap while I smoothed his feathers was certainly therapeutic for both of us.

The girls like to scratch around wherever I'm sitting, and kept us cheery company. Another Faverolles rooster would call when he found something tasty. It's interesting to me to see that the Faverolles hens seem most attentive to the roosters. It takes a lot to get the attention of the Speckled Sussex or Rhode Island girls, but with just a bit of effort from one of the roosters, the Faverolles hens will rush to see what is being presented. I wonder if this is because the rooster is a Faverolles, and therefore more attractive to the Faverolles hens? Somehow I think not. I think the Faverolles hens would be just as attentive to any rooster... indeed, I've seen one young Speckled Sussex rooster call from time to time, and seem to get the same attention from the Faverolles hens. How enchanting they are.

When Henri had finished his nap, I walked out to the tall grass and pulled off handfuls of dry grass seeds as a treat. It's fun to see them jump up to get the seedheads from the tallest stalks as they sway in the wind, so I know the seeds are fun for them to eat... but they don't like to venture too far into what is unmown, although the glistening strands of gossamer enticed some of the Speckled Sussex in a few feet today, looking for spiders. The handful of grass seeds for the flock was glorious--a feast! The roosters called and danced, and the ladies descended and were ushered to the choicest spots to eat.

It wasn't just me who had a wonderful day, clearly. The chickens did, as well: there was attention from their humans... sun and shade... greens and bugs... socializing and dustbathing... places to hide, places to perch... napping, flirting, preening, crowing and all the things a chicken's life should be made of.

Come to think of it, that's about all I want out of life, too.

Had a beautiful day here in sunny CT. Started out with a nice fire on this crisp Autumn morning. Enjoyed the morning quiet with coffee and magazines. My crew wont get up until at least 10 unless I wake them up for church and we didn't make it this morning.
Waited until my Barred rock laid her egg then let them out to free range and cleaned the coop. Did the grocery shopping - happy to be able to afford it (especially in CT!)
Checked on the chickens several times. Once they were about 12 feet up in a pine tree!
Heard from the bff - overall, a perfect day!

Wow, I can't tell you all how teary eyed I got just reading the responses so far. I've had to dry my eyes twice. I've been able to visualize each and every one's day so far. You've done my soul good. Thanks.

Anyone else want to share the simple, or big, joys in their day/life???

I had a beautiful day here, also. Kids and I sat out by the coop and played outside in the cool breeze. Son found a huge green worm for chickens and that kept us entertained. Simple pleasures are the best. I just love country livin'. Thanks for asking, Ruth.

I had a magnificent day as well! The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here in my neck of the woods allowing us to work on my new beautiful coop! I can't wait for it to be finished completely! The kids and I went to church, the lessons were wonderful and especially uplifting today, so everyone came home bright and smiling. We were met by my b/f when we arrived (he works night shift right now so he slept through church, not that he minds

) and we all had a lovely lunch outside in the sunshine, watching and listening to the gentle clucking of the chickens taking dirt baths, scratching for bugs and flitting around the yard chasing the grasshoppers in the cool and steady breeze. The cooler weather has seemed to invigorate them! As it has us all! My two Pyr pups and donkey rolled around on and with each other. My donkey isn't much bigger or older and she thinks she's one of the pups! It's a riot to watch them all wrestle like puppies! I swung in my porch swing as my three kids played and laughed while running around barefoot in the cool grass. Besides the sounds of nature, there is no sound better than children's laughter being carried toward you on the breeze!

Now the kids are watching a last minute movie while I get the house ready to start the new week!

Have a blessed evening!

It was a pretty good day.
I woke up this morning, went to the coops to let the chickens out and feed them while my family slept in.

Did some yard work, tinkered around with a few things on the cars.

Enjoyed the cooler weather.
