Had to amputate chick’s toe!!

Earlier today, a chick by the name of Mazzio (it could have been a different one) a door accidentally smashed on the poor chick’s toe, breaking the bone. We had to amputate the tiny toe, since it was only hanging on by a thread of skin. The poor chick (who’s name we changed to Bethany, like Bethany Hamilton) only has a fourth of one of her toes left. She has been sleeping on and off since then, and has been giving little warbling chirps. But besides the fact that she hasn’t been eating or drinking, she seems fine.
We bandaged it up all right, has anyone ever heard of a chick losing part of a limb and then surviving?
Please, please be praying to the Lord for little Beth, because I would feel terrible and be so sad if she passed away. And please pray to God that she’s a hen, because she’s still too young to tell.

Birds lose toe digits all the time. Heck, most of mine have lost a nail or a knuckle by their second spring.

The toe also has a small part of the bone sticking out right on the front, will the flesh heal over that, or should we cut it off?

Personally I'd stop messing with it and just make sure it doesn't get infected or picked at
