Hi I might join this hatch along. I have eggs coming tomorrow. Silkie and polish! It’s my first time hatching polish so wish me luck!
I just have a question:
So I have a broody chicken and she’s been broody for 2-ish weeks. My question is should I risk hatching the eggs from her or just incubate them? I’d prefer to hatch from her but I won’t if it’s too risky. What do you guys think?

I'm doing this as well. Shipped eggs will be here tomorrow. I will give them 24 hours to rest sitting upright with large air pocket on top, before I give my broody the eggs, she's been broody for over a week. I've read from other people that they usually hatch them out, but there are cases of some quitters. I'm hoping my broody silkie isn't a quitter

I decided NOT to do a sheet this year. Keeping the EHAL one up-to-date was enough for a good long while.

my eggs are set! These babies will be going to my bff and father when they hatch.

I have a question, my silkie is 6 months and has been sitting for half a day here and there on and off.
Yesterday she was in the box before sunset and hasnt moved out. My boss bird threw a fit and had to lay her egg somewhere else. Is my Silkie finally setting?

Are you asking if she might be starting to lay or going broody?

I "need" some!!! I neeeeeeeeeeed some....but you probably don't live near me (kansas? near topeka? pls pls pls pls!) and I don't care for my eggs shaken and stirred. Stupid mail.

I'm in West Virginia, I've shipped west with good results, but probably too far for your liking.

Yeah I defiantly will. I should get them this morning. I’ll let them sit until tomorrow morning But I usually get to excited to wait the full 24 hours and set them a bit earlier.

Personally, i think 24 hours is a guideline. I've set them without waiting at all, I've waited 24 hours, and I've waited 48 hours. Depends on the condition of the air cells for me. Jmho
