HALLOWEEN HATCH!!! Anyone

Quote:
At day 21, the eggs should be full and dark with the air cell showing clearly defined. If the chick has its beak in the air cell getting its first breath you should be able to see it. If the egg is still see through at the small end, it's likely the embryo gave up. If the half that is empty is the air cell, it sounds like the humidity was too low during incubation time.

Leave them alone and let them work it out. If they can't by tomorrow, then consider separating them. I just don't like the idea of the bantam chick alone so if you can put it with the protective standard chick that might be best.

It might be better if you had more than one bantam chick, but sometimes that's not possible. I have a community brooder with standard and bantam chicks spanning the last two weeks of hatching. I noticed that they do ok with the younger ones provided I wait for them to get their feet under them before I put them in the brooder and they do best of all if I can put the new chicks in as pairs or larger groups.

Here is our one little bantam silky\\ frizzles mix chicken that husband tossed in the bater with my Halloween Marans and GC's....We named her Punkin and she is not letting those Giant Cochs and the Marans push her around.....

LOL Well, since Murphy is huge and my little guy is, well, tiny, I was thinking Little Murphy. Or MiniMurphy... LOL

Ooh, Egyptian themed names for a hatch... I LIKE it.
