HALLOWEEN HATCH!!! Anyone

I'm setting today so I'm IN...

BBS Rocks from Halo, Golden Cuckoo Marans from Nivtup, Seramas from a friend, Sizzles from chickens!

Nivtups GCM eggs are the nicest Marans I've ever gotten to hatch. Very dark for the variety and really large.

18 Seramas and five Sizzles... woo hooo or should I say BOO!! Go All Hallows Hatch!

same here! will be setting 6 silkies, 5 black molted D'uccle, and 7 mille fleur d'uccle.

ALSO!!! my white bearded silkie hen started laying last week for me and i have 5 egg's from her ready to go as well. the 2 i tested were fertile so im hoping i will at least get one to hatch from her. The father is another breed and they will be cross babies...but i did that on purpose!!! im trying to make my own little breed so im very excited. I know the odds are against me because she just started laying, but im hopeful, and i think it's better than just throwing the eggs away.

I see your from Indiana, when you guys are hatching this late what are you going to be doing with the chicks as get bigger and need to be outside. I've still got 8 and 10 wk olds in an attached garage and 13 wk olds in a hoop house next to main coop and having no luck getting them in coop older hens and jersey roo are not playing nice. so what do you do?

If my two dozen arrive in the mail tomorrow or Saturday, which is very likely, I'll be halloween hatching!!!

i just put my 13 leghornEE eggs in the bator... YaY!!!! i'm ssoo nervous though.. lol...
i'm thinking you guys have to help me here... they should hatch on the 29th??

Well, we have a heated garage and i have two 100 gallon plastic cattle watering containers in there. I have modified them to where they hold food and water without spilling/making a mess in the corner's where they are placed. Heat lamp's and closed mesh tops keep our garage free from the little ones trying to get out and make a mess. They will probly stay there untill 8 weeks of age...or their feather's are almost 90% in. That's how i will be doing it this winter at least.

8 more eggs in a small nest under the far end of the work bench in the tool shed. So, we have 16 for Halloween. I think the light brown eggs are from our Buff Orpington but I am at a loss about who could possibly be laying light terra cotta colored eggs. (I am really sure that our free ranging Rhode Island Red is a rooster.) And we have a few OEGBs.

Here, I thought I didn't have any eggs...

I'm setting eggs in at midnight tonight. So, that would make Friday, Oct 9th as the official, "Day 1." Correct? Oct 30th hatch due date.

I am suppose to receive another package of eggs tomorrow, so I will add them in also (they will be a few hours behind). Maybe I will wait til noon tomorrow to set, then all due on Oct 31.

Well, anyway, I am in with all you Halloween Witches and Goblins!
Can you all tell us what kind of eggs you are putting in the bator?

wow...just saw paranormal activity tonight....GO SEE IT!!!! lol

Back on topic, my personal white silkie hen's egg's that are in the bator at the moment are obviously smaller than the shipped egg's. I know it's because my girl just started laying and that's why my egg sizes are smaller. I just wanted to know if anyone hatched their own egg's who are in a similar position as i am. Did your babies survive?? Were they smaller on average because of the smaller egg size?? Or did they thrive, and grow up just as strong and healthy as other chicks who hatched out of bigger eggs?

These are the questions that are running through my mind when i took into my bator and look at my bella's first week of eggs
