HALLOWEEN HATCH!!! Anyone

Quote:
"Lefty," for short?

Well, Lefty is out of his shell. He didn't need a bit of help in spite of having been in the Hovabator with the turners for 20 days. He did it in the space of time it takes to eat frozen Mexican pizza.

I think he's going to look like Rusty. All the Orpington X chicks have either been looking like Rusty or Spooky.

Note to self: When you are doing multiple hatches in two incubators, put the eggs of a particular setting date together. If you remember you had 16 eggs for a particular day, don't be satisfied until you move 16 eggs to the hatcher (unless you know you discarded some).

And I know all that. I just had this weird feeling the whole time.

Amazing! Goes to show .... we really worry too much about the little fluctuations (maybe)! It was simply meant to be! Congrats on Lefty
and Rusty,
and Spooky!

Now, i have to think of a name for my 1st one ... a blue Jersey Giant, full of energy. Help me out.

The Jersey Devil? Edit: For some reason I went from that straight to Taz! (Tasmanian Devil, a la Warner Bros.)

I now have a pip at the bottom of a shell. If he lives, his name is Murphy. I believe the fates are conspiring to keep me up all night.

well all 6 are out of their shells over here....
the last little guy... i'm calling him Late... was getting trampled and he looked so tired and the others were almost all fluffy so i moved them to their brooder cage and i'll move Late in there tomorrow.. if he makes it.. i'm crossing my fingers... he had to fight to get out he was a little dry.. i think he pipped earlier than he should have... gave in to peer pressure to come out now... lol.... anyway... there was a little yolk still out, but it disengaged on it's own when he pulled out of the shell. but he has a large hole there... i'm sure he'll heal up fine... i couldn't see the underside of another one but it had a similar shape to this one, and now he's looking fine and running around so i think he just needs to rest...

I thought I heard some cheeping earlier this evening. I went to check and didn't see any pips, then I heard the cheeping again. After checking the incubator many times over a 1/2 hour period I realized it was a noise from the computer game my son was playing. The incubator is in the same room as the computer. Fooled me

Neferset - Jersey Devil is perfect! LOL How about "Afterthought" for your chick?

Minor update: Still faint cheeps, but no pips. *sigh* I have the humidity around 70%. Is this okay? Also, I noticed that I was sloppy with the wax on a couple of the eggs, and got drips up around the aircells. I will keep an extra close eye on those, so if those chicks make attempts at pipping through the wax I will clear it off for them.

Waiting is hard.
