Yeah, Kelly, I think it is gonna be pretty hard to see thru those marans eggs. I know my penedesencas were pretty dark. I don't think I'll be able to see thru those either. I'll probably go blind trying. Ha!

Hey, how bout posting some pics of those dark marans eggs so we all can drool!!

Holy cow!!! Now that's a full bator! You're hand-turning all of those??

Kim...I don't know if it's self control or fear? After Adam snuck in my 'bator the other day, I'm so worried that these babies won't make it. And if I know I'll have to open the bator for a longer period ( longer than it takes to sqeeze water through a turkey baster anyway) I might as well just do it then.

I'm just soooo nervous! .....course if I peeked......

LOL, I got another bator after I turned those all by hand for 2 days. Now all the chicken eggs are being turned for me, but there wasn't room for the quail eggs, so I'm still hand-turning those.

KelleyHM - Man I love those dark eggs. Yours are darker than mine, but mine are close...at least that is what I'm telling myself. Ha!!

BTW, what do you do with your quail? Do you eat them?? Just wondering...we're thinking about those, too.

This is my first batch of quail, so I don't know exactly what I'm going to do with them. The Coturnix might become dinner. The Buttons are too small for that, so not sure yet. We had Bobwhites when I was a kid and just ate the eggs. They're small, but quite yummy!

The dark ones are penedesencas and the lighter ones are barred rocks.

We are thinking about getting some quail eggs. I LOVE to eat quail. Problem is, with my husband and three teenage boys...I don't know if I can hatch them fast enough for even one meal.. LOL.
