Question...my first egg pipped this morning. It's a small pip, I'm not even sure if it made it through the membrane. Anyhow, it hasn't progressed at all. Is that normal? The second one has already had a little piece of shell fall off. It rests for a little while and then pushes a little more. I hear peeping, but I don't know if any of it is from the first one or not. When is it time to worry? We weren't even due to hatch yet, but is the baby at risk once it starts to pip?

***eta...my humidity is at 63%***

I am using a still air LG for a hatcher. Humidity is at 58% and temps have stayed at 100.

I didn't use hot water, I made the water lukewarm. I was worried about it raising them temps

I have added a fan to my LG, but when it was still air, I couldn't get it to go up very high at all. Now that it has a fan, I just need to add a little bit of water to get the humidity to rise. So I wouldn't worry about it. I think because it's a still air, it makes the humidity reading a bit off.

I'm new so sorry if I'm "interrupting" your post but I wanted to join the fun . . .I had 6 of 8 eggs hatch today . . .this is my first try at this . . . I'm so excited! I did have to help my chicks as I was kinda winging it with the humidity and they were all dried up in their shells, stuck and screaming like mad for over 24 hours. . .They are taking forever to dry and fluff up though don't know what is normal . . .
