Wishing you all the luck for lots of fertile eggs!
Now that it's "full dark" (at only 8:00 ... I HATE it!) we're getting ready to candle, tonight.
I'm not expecting many to be viable ... but I am VERY hopeful!
Well, no big surprises here ... not many good'uns in there. Out of eleven Nankin eggs set, we've got one good one, one "iffy" and three "not sure enough to throw away, yet" eggs.
I've also got eight darker eggs from the Kindergarten Dropouts (my "KDO's" - a Jersey Giant and a New Hampshire Red.) I'm used to the tiny , pale Nanny eggs, so I really don't trust my eyes on those, just yet, so they're all still in the 'bator. I'm doubtful about all but two of them. One shows a little shadow with a small air sac. The other ... drumroll please ... looks GREAT! I'm so excited for that one! I really wanted to get a picture, but I'd already had the 'bator opened for longer than I'd planned (those darker eggs are tough when you're used to tiny pale ones!) so I'll try to do it next time.
So, we started with 19.
We're down to 13 (which probably should really be eight ... but ...)
Of those, I'm pretty confident about only two - a Nankin and a KDO.
I'm guardedly optimistic about two more - one of each, again.
The remaining nine don't look good at all, but they'll stay in until at least the next candling ... hope springs eternal, right?
