don’t necessarily judge by your first assortment....the winter ones don’t have as much variety IME....mostly BO, RIR, EE, BR, BA

Thanks for the tip! Very helpful! Even if that’s all I get I won’t mind. Love those breeds.

But maybe I’ll try again in the spring haha

@KDOGG331 ......look what i just found.....it’s the 150 gal....they are 25”......would definitely be worth a try for your fishies at that price!! fish go into “hibernation” when water temps drop below 50* and as long as the pond doesn’t freeze solid (ie de-icer) and air stone they do just fine

So if I get them in the spring it'll be more of a variety?

it’s still luck of draw, but when there’s lots of other breeds available, the assortments are better. (or you can put together your own assortment vs hatchery choice) but still all that hatched were beautiful, healthy chicks!! that’s the important part....

And I love all those breeds anyway so I won’t mind.

I actually kinda hope I get a Barred Rock pullet cause I LOVED my girl and just lost her in July

So far 1 my whole life besides the ostriches my grandfather hatched.

Ostriches? OSTRICHES???? That must have been SO COOL!!! I'd LOVE to watch an ostrich hatch!

I'm actually going to raise some myself within the next few years. My grandfather passed away shortly after he started doing ostriches, he was only in his 50s. I want to carry on his love for animals. He sold the eggs and meat to local restaurants.

I have chicks already and I'm not as excited for this next hatch because I know what's going to pop out (I think). I want to see the assortment eggs people have ordered from Meyers because I think that's what I'm going to do soon. It'll give me a chance to add different breeds to my flock.

I'm getting assortment eggs of quail in January, but I have to get the quail cages built. I need a grow out cage and a breeding cage.

That makes sense!! Meyers also sells several different chick assortments too if you wanted to get chicks too or instead. They have some awesome ones. Not to enable

And that’s what I want to do too!! Have to build cages first but I want quail next. Though I may make the pond first then quail haha
