Hands on hatching and help

So, the last two eggs passed away before pipping so my first hatch rate was 25% (1 out of 4). I bought a AcuRite thermometer that measures temp and humidity and placed it in my incubator. Results?
Incubator temp reading: 99.5
AcuRite temp reading: 95.0
Incubator humidity reading: 48%
AcuRite humidity reading: 62%
Well... Those are some pretty big differences that could easily explain everything.
But if my temp was really that low...how did the chicks even develop to begin with? How did Akia turn out so perfect? Should I get a third opinion? My husband is really trying to get me to try again...he's wanting some Easter Eggers lol
BTW, I know you're probably tired of seeing Akia but I'm just so proud of my first chick, I can't help but show it off :D

She's beautiful! Please try again! I would highly recommend calibrating your thermometer and hygrometer. I only know how to calibrate a glass thermometer not sure if you have one of those or if you only have digital. Once you calibrate you will know for sure exactly what temps and humidity are.

So excited that everyone in my hands on hatch pipped and survived! 10 shipped eggs, 6 banties and 2 pheasants. Everyone got assigned to a broody plus 5 eggs that needed a little more time under a hen. :)

Well, here I sit......and sit.....and sit.......

If anyone has any bright ideas about how to keep this stoopid Farm Innovators at a steady temp and humidity I'm all ears...er, eyes. I wanted to use it as a hatcher, but not if it can't maintain. Too much riding on this hatch to make a dumb mistake at this point in the game.

I need some advice...I have so much trouble with broody hens! I have a first time mom in a separate indoor pen with 4 chicks. Chick feed and waters are right next to her "nest" and the pen is about 4 feet by 4 feet. Well my son ran inside crying today because he went to check on them and one of the chicks was dead. I hatched in my incubator same day these hatched. My inside chicks are thriving and a lot bigger then the chicks with mom. I never see her showing them the food and water. Should I take the chicks from her? Or let her figure it out? I'm really torn here. Any advice welcome!
Yes, definitely looks bearded to me!
I think I would if you don't think that they are thriving with momma.

My very first hatch I never checked my brand new thermometer. I got one chick that hatched day 24 and one that hatched day 25. The day 24 chick survived, the day 25 chick died. I was told to check my thermometer. It was 6 degrees off!!! so the whole time when I thought it was 99-100 it was 93-94F. I was lucky I had even one survivor.

Akia is a cutie.

Congrats!!!

Blooie - I'd use the Brinsea. It may look cramped to us, but it has more room than under a hen...

Ok. So I have 8 chickies out 5 nns and 3 feathered necks. The only one left is the malesposition pipper, and he's still got quite a bit of yolk and veining at the bottom. You can see all the way down into the bottom of the egg from the hole, luckily. I am keeping the yolk sac moistened and giving the little guy little sips of sav a chick water and he's perky, but not much you can do with the unabsorbed yolk and veining. Hopeing something happens oer night.

Working my butt off trying to get things done for my mini vaca. Did my niece's cake for the baby shower tonight. Now my back is killing me. Couple more things to take care of and then I can finally sleep for a few hours.

Congrats on the chicks, Amy!

So tough to watch one that may not make it and there's nothing you can do.

Sorry about your back, but hope you get some good rest so you can enjoy your time away.

PS: Where is the cake picture?

I am drowning in ducklings! 10 out and one more pipped, and yet another internally pipped. Seeing as how I bought 12 eggs I can't be disappointed with those numbers :D
