I don't always hear chirping//peeping from my egg. Some yes, some no.That's a hard one. Doesn't sound like it's been internally pipped for very long but it should be chirping. A safety hole is good and bad. As the chick loses oxygen it causes a neck spasm to help the chick break through the shell. Of coarse complications come up and sometimes they need help. If it were me I would probably make the smallest safety hole just because it's quiet but I know it's usually advised to wait Adleast 24 hours. I think this will have to be a personal call. Maybe some of the more experienced hatchers can help. @RubyNala97 ,@AmyLynn2374 ,@Pyxis
Wow! Congrats!!Trying to kill eggs experiment...
Step 1. Remove 8 eggs from broody after 1 week incubation.
Step 2. Place eggs on kitchen counter.
Step 3. Leave eggs alone for one week.
Step 4. Place eggs in killerbator (Janoel 48)
Step 5. Don't add water and see where humidity ends up.
Step 6. Wait until eggs pip externally, then raise humidity to 50%
Step 7. Open killerbator 5-10 times a day.
Experiment failed, lol. Five chicks fluffed, three externally pipped.![]()
All joking aside, I wish I had this sort of luck with peafowl.![]()

Congrats!A few cute pics that I got of my bantam cochin's hatch. I haven't been home yet to check on the one I assisted last night, but these are its siblings.
Cuckoo bantam cochin momma Katherine
Some babies are pure cochin, one is a silkie/cochin mix (the darkest black one standing on the bowl in the first pic) and 2 chocolate orpington/cochin mixes:

Behave! I sat on you and brought you into the world and I can sit on you and take you out!Oh my word! They're adorable! I love that last one too. Mama and baby looking at each other. That needs to go into "What is this chicken thinking".

Ewe!! I guess you know where it went now.@WVduckchick Those pics are just so adorable! Last one is priceless!
So listen to what happened today!....(this is super gross, just FYI for everyone reading).....you know the missing egg? Well today everyone was out free ranging and a paint hen when carrying something around in her mouth and being super possessive every time I got close...I thought it was a dead mouse but it was a dead chick! Super tiny and she had eaten some of it.![]()

Good luck!Oh I forgot my other news. I just fired up both Brinsea 20's, one has 14 chocolate orpingtons and the other has 18 self blue OEGBs. One CO egg had a bit of yucky goop on it, so I'm experimenting and I washed it, and marked it as washed. Here we go again!![]()
