Hands on hatching and help

Just a quick question. If they do have cocciidiosis will it make them feel cold? Also how long before I see improvement once they start the meds? Thanks. :)

Sick birds are almost always a little hypothermic (cold), so yes, they might feel cold. If they are sick enough that they feel cold, I really think you should give them the severe dose. Fear not, it's not an antibiotic, so don't worry about giving them too much.

Are they drinking/eating enough or are they standing around all fluffed up?

I was actually wondering because they have been under the light for a few days now. Even in the heat wave we are having. They have been drinking that corid non stop since I put it in their watering dish and now they are all sleeping in the shade. I don't know if it has to do with the medicine or not but I hope so cause that would mean they are improving already.

Ok, so I am on my lap top so I can share a couple pics of my cake for my father. Mind you- the people are very cartoonish/amateure....lol The rocks came out fabulous though...lol In person they look absolutely real. My dad is a big kid and likes things like this, so it's appropriet...lol I plan to add some little colorful flowers before the party tomorrow cause it does need a little color.
It looks great!

Love all the details! How long did it take you to decorate it?

All night...lol. It took me longer cause it was so warm in here the molding chocolate was way to soft and oily trying to make the people. Plus my second layer of the bottom cake split in two. Lol

My silkies never went broody! Are you sure they didn't pluck, at least right down beside the breast bone?? I wonder if it could be because their feathers are already soft, and not "pokey"?

The older 4 I had never did either...lol

That's a nice cake!

Thank you.

Ok so I candle eggs and most are real wobbly. Some I can't even find an air sac and one is speckled looking inside with no know air sac.

Granted I'm still new.

So what do I do now? They sat for 24 hrs on cupboard and now they been sitting upright in cartons in the Bator for 8 hours.

One set is so wobbly I fear even touching them. Yikes. May be detached or floating if I even knew what any of it looked like.

Thanks very much for all help. I want a good hatch for my kids this time.

Are you manually turning them or does your model have an automatic turner?

Should I treat all my birds or just the sick ones?

I treated everyone for a week just to be safe. Then gave everyone nutridrench in their water for a week afterward.

700

Is it 1/3 teaspoon for a gallon of drinking water?

3/4 a teaspoon

That's what I was thinking. No, I never saw not even one feather plucked.

That's pretty much par for the course with most shipped eggs. I'm sorry they were not in better shape. I wouldn't touch them for up to 48 hours depending on how bad (wobbly) you think they were. Are you home to hand tilt them? I start tilting mine from one side of the cup to the other 3-5 times a day and just keep going like that. Usually after day 12 the air cells will firm up. You may loose some the first week, that's pretty normal.

I have a auto Turner but it's the new kind that actually roll the eggs.

You're still in the egg cartons right now. They've now been in the incubator in the egg cartons for I think 18 hours.

I can manually tilt them right now if I need to before I turn the auto turn On
