Hands on hatching and help

Okay, we'll give her a day or so. She needs the rest - she was my wrong-ender. In the meantime, I am proud to announce that two more Silkies have joined the mini flock. We got another dark one and another light one. The light one is still dragging a bit of unabsorbed yolk so I'm putting her in a little cup for a bit. But the best part is that when the dark one started zipping I called Katie to come over, and since the yellow one got into a race with the black one for zipping speed they ended up hatching 3 minutes apart. Katie got to watch them both! Her response? "Gee, Gramma, when I see chickens or other birds flying, I'm gonna remember what hard work it was to get born!" Yep.....that's my girl!

So far the tally is 3 dark and 5 light. One more egg just started zipping too. @RubyNala97 I can't even being to tell you what it was like seeing Katie's face today. You should be very proud of the quality of the eggs and the packing. I'd have never tried this if it wasn't for the encouragement of @amylynn and others on here who thought I could do a good hatch even when I didn't think I could do it. We still have 5 eggs that don't seem to be doing anything now, but I'll leave them in for a bit yet. One I'm sure was a late death - the other four I still hold out a little hope for.

Thanks! Whooda thunk, Blooie with over 50% hatch so far.

I knew you could do it, you just needed eggs that didn't have major damage. So glad it's going better for you.

for the others.

My squashed one looked worse this morning - more squashed and not truly hatched at all, still most of the eggs around it. Still just moving though. So I've brought it in and taken the egg off. It's just lying there breathing very slowly so I'm not hopeful :(

Well he's still here. He's looking a little tiny bit better but we have a long way to go.... He stands up occasionally and I've seen him open his eyes briefly and I just got a teeny tiny cheep when I tapped on the incubator. If he perks up, which would be a miracle, I'll try him back under mummy tonight.

Have you tried to give him a little sugar water or, even better if you have it available, Nutri-drench? And sometimes a shot of baby vitamins, the Poly-Vi-Sorb WITHOUT iron, can help too. Good luck with him!

Awww! I agree with Blooie, give it a little vitamins. Amazing how resilient they can be!

I had a wine cooler. First alcoholic drink I've had in TEN years. I can actually feel it. Why am I telling you this, I dunno, but I didn't have anything chicken related to say.  :D

Lol. I was at a wedding and had 2 glasses of champagne and I never drink either! Glad you're having fun!!

Can you get him to drink some sav-a-chick?

I can't drink champagne. Yuck....lol When I was younger....lol.....I was a shots/mixed drink person. But I've never been a big drinker. Go out have a drink watch all my coworkers get buzzed and act like fools till the bar closed and then go to breakfast...lol

Well, the chicks are doing good. Brought them to camp with me for the weekend!
And the little star gazer healed up perfectly! She's the dark black one with the darkest beak, no head dot. Thanks @RavynFallen ;)

Thanks for the responses. We don't have any vitamin type stuff :( which is super annoying, I forgot to pick it up at the country store the other day when I was there.

He continues to make some progress. He's mostly standing now when he's awake and has been bopping around the eggs in the incubator. He took a little bit of water too. Keep sending us your prayers!!
