He's still got a lot of time left. Just give him time and he should absorb the yolk. He probably would have taken at least another full day to hatch if he had pipped correctly - he likely would have internally pipped, waited 24 hours, externally pipped, waited another 24-ish hours, and then finished up. So he may have quite a bit of absorbing time left ahead of him, maybe a full day or more.
Ok that's what I was thinking as well. I was just worried after removing the top of the shell that it wouldn't absorb right. How often should I add vaseline?
I once had a duckling that hatched before her yolk absorbed - fully zipped and came out of the shell on her own and everything. I was like "nope" and pushed her back in and stood the egg on end (the downward pressure of their bodies against the yolk can sometimes help them absorb it faster, I've been told) and within a few hours she finished up and was fine.
