Hands on hatching and help

Yep, I'm between a rock and a hard place with this situation. I'll never find the beak without breaking the membrane. Uhhh! I've been doing this for my many years but this is definitely a first.

If its positioned correctly, and against the membrane, maybe you can feel it with your fingertip? I had trouble finding one that had half-way zipped and stalled, but the beak was so firm, I felt it without actually seeing it.

This is my first year with broodies, but I had 10 I think, and never saw such a thing, so I feel for ya!

I got them out. I truly felt they wouldn't have had a chance otherwise. They both had the dreaded red bag attached outside of their bodies. Praying for a miracle. I made the decision to get them out based on WVduck's opinion they may suffocate, and there was another egg in the incubator pipping. I'll let you know if they're still alive in the morning. Thanks.

So one of the 3 ameraucanas hatched out all on its own. It's doing good. The other that I peeled the shell from is still in the incubator. It doesn't look like much of the yolk has been absorbed. Hopefully it will be ready to hatch tomorrow. The 3rd and last ameraucana egg has pipped now. I'm wondering if somehow those had been alittle farther along because I also have jubilee's that I set at the same time and those haven't even internally pipped yet. Tomorrow is day 20. I'll update tomorrow..

This morning both the chicks I helped out are still alive. One chick is very weak and I doubt will make it, but the other one is active and standing. It does have the cord and tiny shriveled bag hanging so I'm not sure what to do about that. Anyone with this experience please advise?

Glad they alive.

Hey my goose eggs are going to be delivered today. I can't believe how quick they got here. I've never had eggs arrive this fast. Anyways I'm going to need to set them but I'm having trouble finding out temp settings and such. Also wondering if I need to spray them? I didn't do this with my duck eggs so in not sure. Also since it's so late in the season should I set them right away or still give them 24 hours with the fat end up. Thanks. :)

Goose eggs do need to be misted and cooled - I never do that with duck eggs but always do it with goose eggs :) You'll want to incubate them on their sides, too - they don't do well incubating vertically. I always let mine rest but if you think yours are getting too close to the time they're not viable then I'd start them and just not run the turner for a day.
