Hello chicken lovers!
I love these birds but I was DUPED by ye-old Tractor Supply shortly after Hurricane Helene and ended up with some breeds I can't manage in my small flock, including a rooster that was supposed to be a pullet (begging others NOT to buy from TSC anymore! They're AWFUL!!!) I have hand raised these birds myself as chicks with quality feed like Kalmbach, and they have never had nor shown signs of parasites, coccidiosis, respiratory issues, or marek's disease. There are 4 birds I need to rehome for $20/each, or I'll make a deal for anyone interested in taking a rooster WITH a hen. Non-culling homes preferred but not entirely out of the question. Below are some details on these 4 birds:
*****Cock fighters WILL BE REPORTED TO THE AUTHORITIES.*****
+ Lavender Orpington HEN "Penelope" - 5mo-old, due to begin laying any day, excellent feather quality, very sweet and only a little bit flighty but handles well (she will need access to a higher protein diet in order to maintain feather quality as per breed standards).
+ Black-laced Wyandotte HEN "Lucille" - approx. 1yr-old, lays medium-to-large brown eggs almost every day, excellent feather quality BUT has a bad habit of picking other birds' feathers despite having access to plenty of protein and calcium; she will likely do best as a free range or large land hen.
+ Barred Rock ROOSTER "Little Man" - 5mo-old, non-standard or mixed feathering but growing beautifully with multicolored tail feathering; he is already quite large and will require a full-sized flock of 8-10 hens or more but would make an excellent guardian for free range or open pen flocks; he just passed his major maturing stage and has been trained well not to bite/peck/spur* (but as with all roosters and especially young roos, will need to be handled gently for some time in order to maintain this good behavior, otherwise let him loose to the fields to protect your free ranging hens!)
+ Silkie ROOSTER (full-size) "Gray" - approx. 1yr-old and hatched by me, absolute sweetheart to humans but very eager to have his own flock of hens so pardon his excitement. He's almost completely gray in coloring except for some cute brown spotting on his neck hackle feathers. I absolutely love this boy and it will break my heart to part with him after he survived with the rest of my flock through hurricane Helene, but my hens have already accepted my other 2 wonderful roosters. With this in mind, I want to be sure he goes to a VERY good home, preferably a small flock with plenty of safety, so I may ask to see your flock before handing him over. He's a cuddler, loves to be handled and nuzzled, would probably be great around children as he's extremely tolerant, and would make an excellent papa with beautiful mixed silkie babies! **I will NOT sell this rooster to a culling home.**
Please shoot me a message or Craigslist email if you're interested! You'll need to bring your own carrier upon pickup, and I will only accept cash.
