I’ve heard you can feather sex a chick. Has anyone done this to confirm it’s true? I would love for it to be but I never can get a straight answer.

I use feather sexing for chicks, but these diagrams, are for chicks bred for a specific trait.

I have a technique for chicks that are not bred for this, & it works well.

Can you tell me what you do that works? It would help a lot in the future so we could figure out the sex sooner.
I call it Butterfly Pattern Growth, Males having a gap, & females having no gap. (Small percentage of males will have no gap, these one's are more tricky)

These are 1 week old.

Females. Notes: Females have defined butterfly shaped wings.

Thank you SO MUCH these will help me so much!! I’m going to save these pictures to use☺️
I can see the difference (I think) but I’ll get the hang of it! Thank you again!
Does this happen to work with silkies too?

I’m not sure what you mean by “gap”. Honestly, I’m having a hard time telling the difference- especially with female pic 2

Old wives' tale. You can only sex chicks by their wing feathers when they are specifically bred to do that, which is uncommon to find, and you certainly will not have any hatcheries breeding that gene.
