Has anyone had their duck X-rayed? Was it useful?

Waterfowl are quite susceptible to bumblefoot. However, if there are no external symptoms of bumblefoot, I would suspect another problem. Likely a soft tissue injury causing the limp.

I've had my ducks radiographed many times. My ducks are always getting sick, and my avian vet wants to be thorough since mine are precious pets. Usually my ducks have had X-rays preformed for reproductive reasons, mostly suspected egg binding. Though when one had difficultly walking we did discover, through an x-ray, that she had broken her leg. I have found x-rays to be a useful diagnostic tool. I'm happy to spend about $150-$200 for a few views and know for certain what is going on inside my ducks body-or at least rule a few things out.

Yes, x-rays will show arthritis. My ducks don't have any, but I do. And the moment a doctor looks at my x-rays they cringe and comment on my arthritis. They've shown me what it looks like, and it is pretty obvious.

If you have the money why not spend it on your duck? You could find out what is hurting him and discover how to help him feel better.
