Now that I somehow have ten ducks, I’m looking into different pool options. My personal favorite is an antique claw foot bathtub. I’d have to put it up, on stone or maybe a wood platform, and build stairs. Other than that, do your duck minds see any issues? Did they used to paint the exterior with weird toxic and/or lead paint? Is rust dangerous? Anything else? I’m very attached to the idea of watching my ducks bathe in an actual tub.

In my experience with my ducks they don’t like to cliam that much so a kiddie pool worked best bring low to the ground, also having to empty the pool once a day my ducks like a clean pool, (16 ducks) I’ve seen ppl dig the tubs into the ground and put a drain pipe on it to get the water out and to be closer to the groubd

I have thought about this, among other things. I have another question and I'm following along to hear what others have to say. If a duck pool/tub has tall sides and/or is raised up, do the ducks know not to just climb out any side and flop down to ground however far it is below? Right now mine hop out of the pool (not very gracefully) wherever they fell like it and it's only a foot drop to the ground where half the time they seem to land chest first. Do they know NOT to just plop out of a tall tub?

Yes they will just jump up on the side of thepooland jump off. Mine did it and he limped for about a week. That is when I put the kiddy pool on top of a pallet to keep them from drilling so bad. I removed the pallet.

Hmm... I put my kiddie pool on a pallet recently too. They didn't like it. I took the pallet away after only one or two water changes. I was hoping it would keep the water cleaner longer, but if it did, it was only because the ducks didn't like it as much :barnie

Yep better off either plain ole kiddy pool sitting on the ground with some kind of way for them to get in an out easy their legs aren't all that sturdy anyway.
