3D thats is such a cute little thing... I am no expert but from the feathers it looks like a he, because all the feathers are equal and a she has two layers of feathers, but they say that all breeds cannot be feather sexed so I don't know... maybe you should buy 2-3 chicks to keep Hope company.
kats & AlivianAcres I candled some of mine randomly just before lockdown on day 18.5 nd I saw 2 internal pips, it looks somewhat like
and Jharper she sat on 11 eggs (4 infertile, 1 dies, 6 hatched) and the rest 21 are from my incubator.
thankyou kats, I don't know what I am gonna do with them, of course I can't keep them all thought I would love to, but due to space limitations, I may give some away, keep some and eat some
Most of my birds are out in the wind and rain too so yours aren't the only ones. They are free range so they can definatly get shelter they just choose not to :/
3D your chicks take too long to come out, maybe you should give them some incentive to come out AlivianAcres mine took 12 hours from first internal pip to first external pip and then a further 11 hours till first hatch.
How do I do that? And AlivianAcres, mine took 24 hours just sitting there after pipping until I helped it. I still have no idea what was wrong... it could have just been lazy. :3
Congrats! Ours took about 10 hours to hatch after the pip.. Actually we all missed the first hatch. The first one hatched in like 10 min! We were surprised it was out so fast.
I fly so often the baggage handlers and customs guys and I are on a first name basis..
I will to a photo journal all the way and post it here.
I would be happy to do a deal to hatch some eggs for you anytime OGM. Perhaps you could foster some for me in return for the eggs of the next generation - i am renting in socal so i cant have chooks - but I would love to get a few breeds going for the Phils.
