I just set 48 eggs! My biggest batch, and my first batch with eggs that I bought! I have 24 silkie eggs ( 16 I got in the mail and 8 I picked up from a breeder) 15 Polish Crested...eggs from my birds, 6 Buckeyes, and 3 Barhma's....So excited.....can't wait for the Silkies! Actually I'm excited for all of them! I turn myself, so I will have a lot of time into these eggs before they hatch! So count me in on this hatch! .........Sharon

Great! Geez, and I thought hand turning 28 eggs was bad.....

There are least 2 hatched and fuzzy now. I only got pictures of this one because it was on the floor in the coop when I went to check on them. I wasn't sure why...but when I put it back Dot talked to it, trilled and tucked it back under her with care.

I have 8 eggs in the 'bator as of 9pm tonight. This incubator is supposed to hold 10 but I could only fit 8 of my girls' XL eggs. Oh well, there's not much extra room in my coop anyway. :). Fingers crossed!

Deanna that little one of yours is so adorable!

XL eggs are good =) Are they EE eggs?

Are the meal worms super easy to "farm"? How much space do you need?

Yes, the eggs are mostly from EE Roos over EE hens. However, there was one black sex link roo in the yard, so we might have some of that mixed in too.

The meal worms are super easy! Not smelly or messy. Just one big tub in the garage since it's warm right now. In the winter, I had the tub in the house to keep it warmer. One thing i love about it is that the worms turn to beetles, but they are flightless and cannot crawl up the sides of the tub, so there's no worries about escapees. I ordered my first batch of mealies from West Knoll Amy. She's on here, I believe, and also has a web page with lots of meal worm info. My son used the first batch as a science fair experiment for school too. :) Now my little farm is really starting to build up worms for the hens to supplement their winter diet.

Thermometer in my Brinsea Mini ECO is holding at 102! Should be lower, right? Should I try to adjust the temp screw? It says it's factory set, so I hate to mess with it. How accurate is that thermometer? And is it cooler down lower where the eggs are sitting? May back the temp screw off just a touch this morning and see what happens. I'm borrowing this incubator from a friend and she successfully hatched three batches in it this spring.
