Hatch with me! Placed in bator on 5-13-2010. First hatch!

I'll join in too! I set 24 BBS Amer and 5 Split Lav Amer on 5/12. Started a post here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=345597 but didn't get anyone to join

so, might as well join in on the fun over here!

I had set all the eggs in on of my LG's but DH (wonderful man that he is) bought me an early bday present--a new Brinsea Eco 20!

love my hubby! So i moved 24 of the eggs on Tuesday night.

I candled on Monday and look to have 22 developing for sure and another 7 that are questionable!

very excited! Couple of the positive are the split lav's too! YAY!

I am attempting to monitor weight loss this time around, just b/c i'm curious and have read a lot about it. Quite interesting so far (don't want to hijack the thread so I'll post my weigh info on my post). I noticed on some of the eggs I had found questionable on candling were also ones that have lost the most weight so it makes sense if they either quit or were not fertile.

get enough chicken eggs

thanks morningglory I'm in LOVE with this bator and I've only had it since Monday! had to start my eggs in one of my LG's and then moved them on day 7, once I was sure the Brinsea was set. I have heard a lot of people say theirs was ready to go right out of the box but for me, i the temp initially was 104! oops! had to keep adjusting down until i got it right. took me a little while b/c i didn't want to overcompensate. been holding steady-freddy since though. Oh and love the included bulb thermometer, normally I have the hardest time reading those and make DH (chemist) do it, this one I can clearly see. I think b/c they used blue fluid instead of red, for some reason makes it easier on my eyes to see.

Do you have the turner with yours? I didn't get the turner so I've been rocking them by hand but am thinking i might want to pick up the turner too. Also trying to decide if I want to use this to hatch in or move to my clear top hovabator I usually use. I won't have another round of eggs going in until mid June so it will be free to hatch in. what are you planning? thoughts, suggestions or ideas anyone?

I agree on the thermometer! I don't have a turner but I use the egg carton method to make turning easier and so the incubator won't be messy when they hatch. You can move the eggs into the Brinsea to hatch or just move them now. I think it's just your opinion. I've always incubated eggs from start to finish in my Brinsea

I'm with you too! I have 41 Americanas in my new incubator. Shipped eggs. I am so excited. I don't know the humidity, I'll have to get a digital thermometer and hygrometer. I am so excited. Another incubator coming next week!

Sher Morrow, 1 Bearded Collie, 4 calves, 3 goats, sheep and angora goats coming! AND chicks, hopefully. Also Grandma to Cole and mom to Tim, and mom-in-law to Alex, the saint!

Ok people! I just did my first candling and I sure hope I did it right

Results that I found were one blood ring with a watery air sack, One for sure little chickie, 2 'clear' non-fertile type eggs and the rest looked pretty good right now. Saw lots of ones with veins and my marans were just to plain dark to candle

So I lost two CW and one Barnie so far. Pretty sure that three or four of my LBC aren't going to form though, they had lighter veining that the others. No clue on my Marans though, anybody have tips of telling if anything is going on in there?

When I did Marans I couldn't tell on any day. I just had to wait till they hatched
