Are there any vent holes that you could stick a straw through to add water? I cut a piece of fish tank air tubing so that I could bend it to all the water spots.

Mine likes the chickens as much as I do. It's one of the first places he goes when he gets home.

He has to see the girls...

Oh, hubby likes them just as much as I do, he's just too much of a man to admit it

I looked at that. The vent holes are above heating element and wires. I don't think I can add water without hitting those. It's a hovabator 2362n ( I think that's it. ) I have to open it to add water, I haven't found any other way to do it.

It's very cold here. The humidity has already dropped to 60 %

I've been plugging and unplugging the holes to get the humidity back up. I'll wait until DH gets home in a little bit, and see what we can come up with for a solution.

Hmm, I've not seen a hovabator but I think you are still OK at 60%. This is stressful, isn't it

. Oh, and it is snowing here today and the last time I looked outside it was starting to stick. It's going to be a long ride home because no one is going to have snow tires on yet and everyone seems to forget how to drive in the snow over the summer around here

Yes, very stressful.

Plugging the holes seemed to help bring up the humidity back up. I'll just have to keep a closer eye on it.

I hope you get a pretty roo like your Gandalf, BlueMoon. Makes me wish I could have chickens- I'd be waiting on eggs from you if you got one.

Maybe in the future, if/when we move and I can have chickens!

I use a bendy straw and one of those medicine syringes. The syringe fits perfectly in the bendy straw so I can add water without opening the bator.

Also, I read on here that someone (I want to say horsefeathers) wets a sponge, puts it in the microwave and throws it in the bator to get the humidity up.

I got the humidity stable finally. I figured it out!

The plugs helped a lot. If I need to lower, I take a plug out, if it starts getting too low, I put it back in. It's been pretty stable for awhile now. Between 61-64 %. The temp has been fine, and have had no need to adjust it. Just the humidity was wacky.

I pulled out the turner and put the water in. I'm waiting for the temp to come back and and the humidity to stabalize
