Hi all.. i am a very excited expectant owner as my duck has been broody for 28 days and i just got the chance to candle an egg whilst she took a break.. i saw a lit of movement in the air sac 😍 can anyone advise on how long it may be before they may hatch? Im super excited 😁

How exciting, that depends if you saw shadowing or an internal pip, if you didn't see a bill but rather just shadows along the air cell it'll be another good four/five days or so before it hatches, if you saw a bill in the air cell you could expect the duckling to be out in three days or so. Are you aware that Calls need to be assisted often, especially ones that are more true to type?

Thankyou miss lydiya it looked like shadows of a beak in the air sac.. moving quite a bit. Are you able to advise how i could help them if needed?

Well, that's your choice, but I have hatched many Calls, and I'd say around 70/80% percent need to be assisted after the internal pip, or they suffocate because they are unable to pip externally. I'd watch for an internal pip, and put a safety hole in as needed. Best of luck to you!
